One of our regular eSIM users, and niece of a FlexySim team member decided to wave goodbye to the UK winter and experience the far east. For the past six months, she has traveled throughout Asia and is now enjoying Australia before returning to volunteer at a school in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We have been so intrigued by her travels, especially judging by the number of eSIMs used along the way! So we thought we would ask her if she could share her travel experiences.
Heading off to Asia
Back in June 2025 our intrepid traveller Lottie P from Surrey in the UK, decided it was time for a career break, packed her bags and headed off to Asia. Starting in Bali Lottie has traveled far and wide, visiting 10 countries including Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Throughout Lottie's journey, she has visited some out-of-reach places, met & stayed with fantastic locals, and spent time with other travellers along the way.
Travelling highlights
We asked Lottie if there were any highlights along the way that could be singled out. and volunteering seemed to be a big highlight in addition to visiting small, off-the-beaten-track villages, hiking, and paramotoring - whatever that is...it sounds scary!
Asia eSIM to the rescue
Lottie knows that travelling requires significant preparation. As a solo female traveler in Asia, it has been vital for Lottie to stay connected so friends and family knew her location, in addition to using online maps to stay on track. With that in mind Lottie used a few FlexySim eSIMs for that purpose. In particular Lottie used Multi-Country Asia eSIMs that covered a wide range of countries with ample data, allowing her to stay connected without needing to change eSIMs whenever she changed countries. The eSIMs proved vital throughout Asia, especially since Lottie's Samsung Galaxy smartphone took an impromptu swim, meaning her physical SIM card from her usual mobile provider was lost along the way. This incident meant Lottie was more reliant on the eSIM than she originally thought.
Heading Down Under
Lottie's travels have taken her further down under to Australia where she has taken in the beauty of the east coast enjoying Noosa, Byron Bay, Sydney, and Melbourne. What's next for Lottie's adventures? Next stop is Chiang Mai again for another four-week volunteering role teaching English to local children, before heading back to the UK to hopefully save for more global travels in the future...Good Luck Lottie!!
