eSIM Troubleshooting

How can I check that my phone is compatible with an eSIM?

Most modern smartphones are fully equipped to accept an eSIM. However, if you are using an older model Apple, Samsung, or Google phone, it is highly recommended to verify your device before purchasing a plan.

Check our comprehensive eSIM compatibility list here to ensure your smartphone is supported.

My phone is compatible, but I need to check to see if my phone is locked to my current telco provider, how can I do this?

Most modern smartphones are unlocked by default, and ready to accept an eSIM. However, to double-check your device, simply dial *#06# on your keypad.

If an EID number is displayed on the screen, your phone is fully eSIM-ready and you are good to go!

If you are still in doubt, please contact your current network provider. They will usually unlock your device for you free of charge.

eSIM not connecting - Quick Checklist

You have signal bars, but nothing loads?

This is usually a quick fix. It typically means your device needs its roaming toggles turned on, its data line correctly assigned, or its manual network path configured.

Follow these steps in order to get connected:

Step 1 - Turn ON Data Roaming(Required for all travel eSIMs)

  • iPhone: Settings → Mobile/Cellular → FlexySim eSIM → Data Roaming → ON

Apple iMessage issues

FlexySim eSIMs are data-only, so the Apple iMessage service should still work without any issues— but switching data lines can sometimes cause confusion.

If you have trouble using iMessage, try these steps

  1. Settings → Messages → Send & Receive
  2. Ensure your Apple ID/phone number is selected correctly
  3. Keep your primary SIM active for iMessage identity (if needed), however only set your FlexySim eSIM for data to ensure you avoid data roaming charges with your usual SIM

eSIM setup tips

Step 1.
Scan QR Code

After you have purchased your eSIM you will have received an email with your eSIM details, including a QR Code and installation instructions. Simply scan the QR Code to start installing your eSIM or tap the link provided in the email.

Step 2.
Install your eSIM

Once your eSIM starts installing let your phone do the work. Once your eSIM is installed name your eSIM 'FlexySim' so that you know which sim is your eSIM, and which is your usual sim.
FYI don't activate your eSIM until you arrive at your destination.

Step 3.
Activate your eSIM

Once your eSIM is installed, and you arrive at your destination it is time to toggle data roaming off on your primary sim, and on for your eSIM. You will now be able to enjoy your travels with reliable & fast data with no data roaming costs.
